The Southern Coast Carbon Capture & Clean Coal Power Facility is a next-generation conventional energy project designed to deliver 1,000 MW of stable base-load power while drastically reducing CO₂ emissions. Located on a deep-water port, the facility is purpose-built to supply power-hungry industries and urban grids while meeting Australia’s future emissions regulations.
Unlike traditional thermal plants, this project integrates a carbon capture and storage (CCS) system from day one, allowing for the capture of up to 90% of CO₂ emissions for underground sequestration or industrial reuse.
While later packages will install the CCS systems and export infrastructure, Package 1 delivers the carbon-capture-ready Boiler Island — the heart of the steam cycle and the foundation for low-emission energy generation.

This package covers the construction, installation, and commissioning of high-efficiency, CCS-compatible steam generation infrastructure:
- Ultra-Supercritical Boilers – Designed for maximum steam temperature and pressure to boost efficiency.
- Low-NOx Burners & Flue Gas Treatment – Reducing nitrogen oxides and particulates before carbon capture.
- Fuel Handling Systems – Automated conveyors and silos for low-ash coal or biomass blends.
- Steam Piping & Feedwater Systems – High-pressure, insulated pipelines to deliver steam to turbines.
